Racing Clnb are repotted to have made a'• profit of about £700 over their recent spring meeting. Owing to an accident Mr G. G. Stead's colt Boniform will not start in the Welcome Stakes- at the C.J.C. Spring Meeting to-day. Owing to pressure of business, Mr. T. H. Dowry, the Hawkers Bay sportsman, was unable to get to Auckland to see his horses run at the A.X.C. Spring Meeting. The Carbine colt Ramrod was recently .backed down to 11 to 8 for the Great ,Torkshire Handicap, at the Doncaster. Meeting, but in a. field of 12 he dia not finish in the first eight. The gelding Con Toy, winch was recently put into work again at Ellerslie, is already showing symptoms of lameness, and it is doubtful if the son of Vanguard will stand a preparation. The gelding Wet Reef, which waa recently purchased by Mr. G. P. Donnelly for oOOg-ns. dropped dead one day last week. Wet Reef was spoken of as a horse likely to win distinction over hurdles. , An Otapo writer says that some of tie horsemanship displayed at the -recent Gore meeting was beneath criticism, and suggests that the N.Z. Racing Conference would do well if they opened a. riding school. The Soult filly Saga is likely to be on the retired list for some time as the resnlt of a severe kick inflicted by Kitchenmald prior to the start in the Spring Trial Stakes at the recent Wellington meeting. At Cambria Park, Creey, by Hotehkiw— Crescent, has foaled a colt to Soult. Creey is the last of the Cambria Park mares to foal, and the total foalings at the Papatoitoi estate for the season is 13—three colts and a fllly by Souk, and five colts and four fillies by Bton.
