(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) A CHTLT) DROWNED. NAPIER, Thursday. At the inquest on the body of the child Agnes Burton, drowned yesterday at Petane, a verdict of "Accidental death" was returned, no blame being attachable to anyone. FOUND DROWNED. GISBORNE, this day. The body of Thomas Ellis, a labourer, aged 55, was found floating in the Taruheru River this morning. He had been drinking about town some time. ATHLETIC UNION BOYCOTT. INVERCARGILL, this day. The Council of the New Zealand Athletic Union has issued a manifesto dedaring that any of its competitors ■who compete at the Scottish Societies' sports in Uhristehurch on the Ist and 2nd January will be disqualified for five years, and that no competitor thereat 'will be «Jlowed to perform at any meeting in the colony under the jurisdiction of the Union during that time. This also extends to Australia.
