RAGLAN NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Kawhia County Council intends to levy a general rate of 1d in the £ on the unimproved value of all ratable property. While additions are being made to the Raglan Pubiic School It Is proposed to hold the school in the Congregational Church. The present school is too crowded, some 68 children attending the school. Mr A. K. Langley has left for Auckland, en route for Christchurch, where he has business in connection with the Exhibition. Mr Langley expects to be absent until Christmas. Messrs Watkins Bros, have a gang of men working night and day getting out timber at their bush at Te Mata. The followlng telegram was received from Mr Greenslade, M.H.R., re Poturu Bridge, completion of which has been stopped:— "Interviewed Minister, Hon. Hall-Jones, and he is making inquiries into the matter and has promised to expedite the completion of the work as much as possible." The Kawhia County Council has been vested with the powers of a Harbour Board, and will endeavour to get a member representing the Waikato on the Auckland Harbour Board. The Council has decided to support the Raglan Council in the administration of the Noxious Weeds Act. The clerk reported the unimproved value of Kawhia County to be £94,404. The Council will protest against the Local Authorities Bill, as the subsidies are considered quite insufficient.
