Dirt in an Animal's Eye,—To remove dirt from the eye, dip a feather in the white of an egg and draw it across the eye. One of the best and simplest treatments for simple inflamed eyes is to bathe the eye several times a day, and any time in the nfght when awake with a solution of one teaspoonful of powdered borax, one tea*=poonful of table salt, and one pint of water.

Choking in Cattle. —While choking in cattle is generally an easy thing to remedy if the right steps are taken, and the treatment given in time, it is also apt to treminate fatally, if relief is not given. The symptoms are plain —the animal stops eating, coughs, breathes heavily, becomes bloated, and if not at once relieved will drop dowp and die of suffocation. If the object lodged is not far down, it can sometimes be reached with the hand —a clc vis put in the mouth will keep the mouth open. When the obstruction cannot be reached, it is well to try to work it down with the fingers from the outside. A pint of linseed administered before will help. If the lump still remains immovable it must be forced out. An instrument called the probang is used for this purpose, but when this is not at hand a section of warden hose will answer. Oil it well, hold the head straight with the body and pass it gently down the throat until the obstruction is reached; then force it into the stomach. For a day or two after the operation give the animal soft feed; dry, hard feed at this time tending, to further irritate the tissues that are already irritated and partially paralysed. Small round potatoes and apples are very apt to cause choking and on account of their shape and the fact that they close the wind pipe so effectually, wffl cause Seato IT not coon remowd.
