A COLLIERY DISASTER.
EXPLOSION OF FIREDAMP. 107 MINERS ENTOMBED. NEW YORK, February 21. An explosion of firedamp has occurred in the Alabama Steel and Wire Company's coal mine in Virginia. The explosion was of stupendous force. Of the men who were in the mine at the time, 107 are reported to have perished. Many others are entombed by the roof of the ways having fallen in many places.
