WAIHI NEWS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Tnisday. At a special meeting of the Borough Council last night it was agreed, on Cr. Poetefs motion, to proceed with the water snppiy head work, estiir.af.ed to coat £950, .it once. The engineer thought the work should be done by contract, and Cr. Donaldson moved tttat it should, be done by day labour, but the question was referred to the Works Committee.
This morning a miner named Meeher, engaged in "spmgging" on the surface at the tVaihi mine, got the thrnnb of hds ief t hand badly crushed.
Mr It. J. Lasher, manager of the Government State Fire Insoraaee Office, was today in Waihi arranging for a local agent.
Hγ J. W. Waifcex is at present on a visit to Waihi.
Mr Charles Trcsseil, conductor of the Waihi Federal Band, has been deputed by the executive of the North Island Band Association, to arrange a qedci-step march for the Military Band Contest to be Jieid at Haweca next year.
