STATIONS.
MELBOURNE, February 13
The mystery of the recent frequent robberies at suburban railway stations was partially solved to-day. The gfler.ces were all of the same kind, the booking offices were broken into, the safes in many instances tampered with, and sums in silver and copper stolen. The detectives this morning arrested a youth, named Leslie Jeffrey, who confessed to having broken into the booking office at Remington Bridge station ! by" forcing open the door. He then j placed a plug of gelignite- to -which vas j attached a time fuse and caps under the Bafe. He ran outside, and two minutes afterwards a loud explosion took place, and he went into the office again. Hβ found that the safe had cot been blown open, and ran away. * Accused told the detectives that he escaped from a reformatory with another youth a week bsfore Christmas, and that night they broke into the Bayswater railway station. Since then Jeffrey said that by himself he had broken into the following railway stations: Jcliniont, North Richmond, West Pdchmond, Clif-ton-hill (twice), Hamden, Middle Brighton, North Pitzroy, and Remington Bridge-
