THE GOLDFIELDS.
WAIQTAHI. The directors of the Waiotahi G-AL. Co. have decided to adopt the recommendation of the mine manager to sink the main shaft a further 60ft to 70ft in order to open up a new level en the reef upon which, the winze is now being sunk. As gas is troublesome in the winze at present,, it has also been decided to crosscut from No. 4 level in an easterly direction to the Mary Ann shaft, which will: not only prospect the ground, but also secure ventilation. For these works additional men will be puton e-0 as to leave the present staff engaged on breaking out ore for the battery.
