ANew Zealander carried off the lton"s ghare of the honours for the past year's work at the > T ationnl Dental Hospital and College. The l)e-,ui r>f The Hospital, in his speech at. the amiual dinner of Mst and present students, montioned thst-three gentlemen raounpoHsed all the class priTes for the year, and one ut them, from New Zealand. Mr (J. H. Parkinsun, had been particularly brilliant. Hi- Parkinson's performance ceitainly bears out the Dean's words. Tic carried off one gold and five bronzo medals, a case of instruments, and six first certificates. His record for the year stood as follows:—

yMr Speacer Gollan. the -well-known intipodean sportsman, and his friend. Tom Sullivan, ex-sculling champion of "England, -were instrumental in faring a couple of lives on the River Thames not far from Hammersmnh last Suadav morning. A tub-four with a coxswain of the Alpha Club were rowing up-river, and when opposite the Doves ran into a very rough patch caused by a sudden Squall, and a moment later the crew were struggling in the water. Of the fve not one could swim even fairly well, and tire stroke la young man named levies] not at all. Fortunately, tit the critical moment Mr Oollan and SulliTan were proceeding up-river for their Sunday morning spin in a double-sculling (boat. Seeing the danger of tho party 'they at once sculled over to and taking om on the end of their boat nreed wiih him to rhe shore. They returned and rescued another.
