THE GOLDFIELDS.
ON 'CHANGE. The general tone of business was quiet on the Exchange to-day, prices in many instarfces showing a decline as between the first and second call. Tbe sole exceptions were New Moanataiari shaves, buyers advancing from 2/9 to 2/11. Waiotahi shares sold at 19/, but subsequently 17/6 was the best offer. This is probably due to the fact that at present gas is troublesome in the winze, as the M'eather is very muggy. New Eclipse shares fell to sales as low as 1/5 and 1/4, notwithstanding the declaration of a dividend of per share. May Queen Ex shares were also easier, being v cd at 1/1, but 9d was the best oU>r Crown shares changed hands at 3/, with further buyers at 2/10. Talisman Consolidated shares continued firm at the recent advance, sales being made at 10/, with buyerb still offering- 9/9.
