HUNT-Y, February 16. ■- Tiie animal pieni em connection with ~£ie Presbyterian Church Sundayschool took place on Saturday under .he most favourable atmospheric conditions at Harrisville in a beautiful puddoek kindly granted by Mr L. HHarris, se_r. The attendance ol teachers, pupils, parents and friends was very large. A most enjoyable day was spent, racing, games, and sports, together with a generous co_mu_ariut, be-na features of 'the day's outing. The unzes, about sixty in number, evoked great competition, and will form an agreeable memento of a pl-e__mt outinsf. Before separating, votes oi thanks were cordially given on the call oi the Home Missioner (Mr J. C. Mill), to the Superintendent (Mr Jas. -Shaw), to the teachers, to Mr' Harris. and to all who had helped financially. At the monthly meeting oi the lluutly School Committee, the chairman (Mr E. B. Sheeran) pre_din_, in w-_s resolved to hold a school treat at an early date. For the p-.irpose of raising funds it was decided'to hold a special meeting next Monday, when the attendance of°the head-teacher should be invited. It is reported that Miss Ralph has completed the purchase of some 1500 acres of land on the west bank of the river. This area, it is said, is to be out up in hundred acre sections, and sold. There is still a demand for farms and building sites. On Monday eveniiic tbe members of St. Paul's (Anglican) Church assembled in large numbers to show their appreciation of the many and varied sendees which Mr A. Wilson, late of the Native behooi l'.-_a_-_an!ra. and now hcadmjsttr of St. _? -ihen's School for Maori Boys, had ren-<.---ed to the church during the past four veaxa. Rev. A. J- Beet, in the name of the congregation, asked Mr Wilson to accept 'a roll top desk suitably inscribed, as a memento of his work, and as a token of their gratlt'rde for his many services. Mr Wilson feelingly acknowledged the presentation. On behalf of the privates of the Hunt'y Rifies, Mr L. B. Ha-rris. jun.. presented Yr W'ison on Saturday night with a set of carvers, the health cf the guest being p_rdged with musical honours. Mr Wilson left "on Tuesday to take up his new duties at St. Stephen's School. Parnell A contort iv aid of the funds of the Huntly cemetery, organised by Mrs J. •; ceaaere and Mr J. Brooks, took place ill the Volunteer nail on Monday evening, Mr J. P.- Bailey, J.P., presiding over a large attendance. The various items, which vr-.- mainly entrusted to juveniles. v.-ere cordially received, the most attractive item, perhaps, being the exhibition of club swinging by the members of the girls' gymnasium club. The first part of the projjramme consisted of songs by Messrs riscde Gleeson, and Sid. Wa-tson, and Miss Ivy Greenacre, who also contributed an Irish'jig, and a recitation with tableaux by Miss Janet MacFarlane. The second part was devoted to "Cinderella," described in this programme as a play in four n'-ts, the dramatis personae bein.__: Misses ] Greenacre, J. MacFarlane, G. flkeHern, 2.1. Crowder. F. Hailwood. Ada Tnrner. L. SmTtic, Alt. Parkes, and T. MrCreadr. Tbe play was a source of great amusement, aad was well reoelved. The enterprising burglar is again about. Scaie person effected an entry some days *go into the premises of Messrs Gieen an;) Colebrook, Ltd.. by breaking a pane of gliiFS and unfastening the catches oi twu ■windows, one leading from the outside to the back .-ore, and the other from the bitter place to the main premises. It is conjectured that the thief was searching for the safe, but rras disturbed. It is not known whether or not any poods were removed. —(Own Correspondent.)
