PERSONAL.
Tie Rev. M. Thompson arrived from the South by the Rarawa on Saturday. Miss M. Champtaloup, of Birkenhead, pho has been on a visit to the Old Country, returned by the Mokoia. Mr C. V. Houghton, manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, went k> New South Wales yesterday. Mr C. Ranson, general manager of the Northern S.S. Co., returned to Auckland .from Tauranga yesterday. Capt. J. Hull, who recently left the Union S.S. Co's service, arrived in Auckland yesterday from the South by. the Eotoiti. Mr Frank Allen, general manager of the Commercial Union Assurance Company, arrived in Auckland by the Rotarfci festerday. Mr and Mrs W. Macklow went to Rotorua to-day in the express. Mr Macklow intends to spend a few days' fishing at Galatea. Amongst the passengers by tbe Rimntaka, which arrived on Friday at Wellington from London, was the Rev. J. R. Harford, for Auckland. Lady Janet Clarke, of Melbourne, who has been touring the colony, and recently has been visiting Rotorua, is a passenger to Sydney in the Manuka this evening. Mr J. E. Seddon second son of the Premier according to a Press Association telegram has been advised by ■cable that he has passed the first section of the LL.B. examination. Professor H. Baldwin Spencer, president of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science, passed through Auckland to-day from Rotarua. He joined the Manuka this evening on her trip to Sydney. Mr C. W. Boult, who has been studying at the Otago University, has obtained the degree of M. Sc. with first-class honours. Mr Boult was formerly a pupil of King's College, and also studied for a tone at the Auckland University College. Mr W. S. King, judge in tbe late -forth Island Brass Band Contest, went South to-day. Mr Maurice Cohen, of Palmerston North, President of the North Island Band Association, went up the line towards Rotorua on business this morning. The Countess of Onslow was driven through Cornwall Park to the Veterans' Home yesterday by the Mayor of Auckland (the Hon. E. Mitehelson) and Mrs Mitehelson. The Countess was delighted with the Park, and equally so with the Home. The veterans gave her a royal reception when she arrived. Lady Onslow, with the Hons. Huia and Dorothy Onslow, are passengers to Sydney by the Manuka this evening.
