SWIMMING.
The Northern Swimming Club held their first club night of the season on Wednesday last. Tbo Auckland Club held a club night last Friday. Nest YVednesday 'the Northern Club will hold a gala in the Albert-street, baths, at which I anticipate there will be a good attendance, this being the first of anything in the nature of a big meeting since the season opened. A capital programme has been arranged. The Northern Club is emerging from the difficulties which beset it at the commencement of the season, and members am now lookir.g forward to a successful season, late as tliey have been in starting- With a view- to increasing the membership the subscription fee has been reduced by one-half.. The "Argus" stales (hat in all probability B. Koran, of New South Wale.?, who is practically the vrorlcTs long-dis-tance swimmer, will visit England as representative of Now South Wales to compete in the English championships, which are to take place in 1000-7.
