POLISH RIOTS.
The commencement of the revolutionary movement in Poland, which has now attained such serious dimensions, dates back in its more violent stages to the violent and disorderly scenes attending the mobilisation of re-
serves in December. By way of protest against the presence of the Russian rcerniung party at ILadom, a demonstration was organised. A crowd of people, chiefly composed of working men. marched through the principal
street of the town, carrying red flags and Ringing Socialistic song 3. Military patrols which were ordered to disperse the demonstrators were received with shote, and a sharp 'affray, of which the illustration pictures an incident, ensued. In the course of the fighting
Colonel Bulatou, commander of the 26th Infantry Regiment, was killed, Lieutenant Goldman was severely wounded, and another officer was wounded. One of the leaders of the demonstration, a man named Cymerys, was also killed.
