DEATH OF MR. JAS. RUSSELL.
Inforniation received by cable from London this morning of. the deatn ' of Mr 'Janies Eussejl,' for many" years a member of the. firm..of Messrs JaeksQil nnd Russell, solicitors, A few, -years ago Mr Russell removed to \ London, and since the death of Mr ; Thomasrjßusssll lias. occupied.- t}\e posi- j tion of chairman ■of directors of the Waihi G.M. Go, Latterly, he was also resident directcr in London of the New Zealand Insurance Company. It was known., .to Mr. Russell's friends that ho was hi failing health, news'of , his death, none the less,' came ais a surprise. Mr Russell was 'a "native of Auelcjand, and commenced liis education at the" Wesley (now ]?riiice Albert) Col- j lege, after which he took up the law as ; a profession, as. did also his -brothers Thomas and J, B. Russell, ]>oth. of whom predeceased him, leaving now. only the ■ other brother,. Mr William Russell, who | resides, iv the Sout)i. For many yeara i Mr James Kussell resided, at. Arney's | gcod, Rcmuera, and was for a- long tinys • a member of the local road board. He. took a great interest in mining, and was a director of various companies at different times, Mr Eusfsell was married to a- daughter of the late Mr S, Browo- i ing, and leaves three daughters. :
