THE DEVONPORT FERRY ACCIDENT.

(To the Ktlltor.) Sir, —In reference to your report re accident off the ferry boat, 1 beg to state that your correspondent, F.J.W., is incorrect in his statement. When the lady fell off the boat I immediately gave some parcels I was holding to a friend, and told him I was c;oing to jump in. which I did, though your correspondent says I fell in. I do not know whether Captain Scott jumped in or not, but it was certainly mc who brought the lady alongside the boat.—l am, etc., EDGAR SPIERS.
