CROWN LAND BALLOT.
In the absence of the CommiseiW, the chief. clerk of the Crown lands ftpartment, Captain Boscawen, conducted a ballot for certain sections of Ctowu lands in the counties of AwaJrino, B*y, of Islands, Hokianga, and Taurang»» comprising a total area of 624 acres 1 ; rood. Of the seven sections offered. three were disposed of, and the remi* ing sections are still open for selection and applications may be made at tM Crown Lands Office.
There were four applications for » fifty acre section of second-class land in the Punakitere district, in the Holo* anga County. The successful candidate was Mr W. H. White, lease in perpetuity tenure. . Two sections were taken up without ballot, there being only one application for each. The first, consisting ?t acres of first-class land, fell to J- OW, jun., the land being taken up The second section, of .an area of W awes of first-class land, went to Mr *. McLoughlin under occupation with rigK of purchase.
