ROMAN CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL.
DEDICATION" AT CHRISTCHUKCH. CHRISTCHURCH, February 12 The ceremony of dedication of the new Eoman Catholic Cathedral, under the title of the Chtrreh of the Adorable Sacrament, took place this morning, in magnificent weather, and in the presence of a great gathering of the Roman Catholic community. Many dignitaries, ecclesiastical and lay, attended from all parts of the Australasian colonies, among those present at the service being His Kxcellency the Governor, Lady Plunket, and suite.. Hon. R. J. Seddon and Mrs Seddon, Sir Joseph Ward. The proceedings were opened by a procession of clergy to the cxtthedral in full canonicals, and the solemn blessing and dedicatory service was conducted by His Graco s.he Arch bishop of Melbourne. The Cathedral is of lonic and Corinth ie architecture. The prevailing feature of the building is the use of the classic colounade, with a more sparing use of the arch in common to the style. The whole building covers an axea of 210 feet by 166 feet.
