Massey, M.H.R.. has returned to Auckland from his visit to Taranaki. Dr. Letfihan, R.C. Bishop of Auckland, is returning to Auckland. He was a pa-s-FPUgPT by the Rotomahana from Lyttelton to Wellington last night. Mr J. Drummond, who has been on |he teaching staff of the Napier Hvjfh (%-hool. vent to Sylncy last night ■ Victoria. He is going to Edinburgh to study medifiuf. ; papers record a report that JAr Tom Mann, who is orga-Eiser of the "Victorian Labour Party, has resisted his position and taken a farm in Mansfield (Victoria), district. Lady Ael&nd-Hood, wife of Sir Alexander F. Aclan-Hood, Parliamentary Secreta.rr to the British Treasury, was, a passenger to Gisbornc by the Zoalandia. Dr. W' B. Gow. of the Mount View .Hospital, Wellington, has been appointee "to succeed Dr. Levinge in charge of the Sunnyside Asylum. Dr. Crosby, at present assisting at Sunnyside, will probably he given charge of the Mount View Hospital. Captain Post,, who left for Sydney on Patnrday for the purpose of bringing the gunboat Sparrow to New Zealand, is accompanied by Messrs Worsley and Sinciair. Tlfey are to art as chief officer snd engineer respectively during the gunboat's passage across the Tasman Sea. Mr Allpnrt. Under-Secretary of the [Marine Department, left Wellington thismorning for Auckland, where Departmental bueinep; requires his attention. When Mr JUlport has finished Ms labours in Auckland he ivill take passage by the Hinemoa on her tour of inspection of the 2sorthern lighthouses. Major J- Howard-Cartland, of Worcester, Englaud, arrived in Wellington ty the Wirnmera on a brief visit to the colony. He intends to visit friends at Wanganui. and then stay a few day 3at Tlotorua before proceeding to Auckland to catch the mail boat for San Francisco . Major Howard-Cartland was in New Zealand in ISSO. on which oeca-'; sion he visited the Pink Terraces. I
