ST. GEORGES ROWING CLUB.
The above clnb held its fourth set of trials on Saturday afternoon for trophies presented by C. E. S. Gillies (vice-commo-dore). Mr T. Russell, commodore, acted as judge, and Mr J. W. Winks as starter. The oil launch Matareka was placed at the disposal of the officials by Mr W. S. Whitley. The result— are as follow:—1st hear. T. Richard's crew: 2nd heat, P. Steele's crew; 3rd heat, B. Totten's crew; final, P. Steele istrokel. A. E. Tattley (3), R. Laurie (2), A. Inr_s (bow).
MOTOR LAUNCH RACE.
As stated in our first edition on Saturday, the motor yacht race between tbe crack boats Union and Slim Jim was won by the latter. Both boots started from scratch, and the race was very even on tbe ran. down the harbour. When the boats ronnd-<-d the squadron mark off the Bastkm. Slim Jim was leading by about half a minute, and finished lml n 27see ahead of tbe Union. The Sltm Jim covered the. eijrht-mile conrse In a few seconds over the half-hour. The race was arranged and carried out under the supervision of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. The Union is fitted with a 25-h.p. Union engine and the Slim .Tim. has a 15-h.p. Monarch engine. It must be considered, however, that tbe Union is a sabstantiallv built boat, while the Slim Jim is built exceptionally and 2s a racing machine ont aud out.
VICTORIA CRUISING CLUB.
The Victoria Cmising Club's class races to Drunken Bay on Saturday resulted as follow:—1st class: Oiympia, 1: Spray, 2. 2nd class: Wishbone. 1: May Mone. 2: Essie. S. 3rd class: Seahorse." 1; Success. 2: Countess. 3.
MANUKAU YACHT CLUB.
This club held races on Saturday afternoon id the ManuUnu for the championship cup and the fifth handicap race of the season. The finish for the championship was: Ngnroma, 5h lCm 15s: Pastime, ~>h 17m: Maka Maile. .*>h 20m 15s. The winner is also leading for the handicap cap. The handicap race wai won by Endeavour, which finished at 4h 3.1 m Is. The other placed boats were: May Bee, 4h 53m 30s. 2: Elsie, 4h 3Sm 4Ks, 3.
NGAB.UA WAHIA.
The new rowing shed at Ngarnawahia was opened by Mr F. W. Lang, M.H.R.. last Wednesday. The shed is two storeys high, the lower floor being used for the rowing club's fine plant and the upper for dressing and committee rooms, etc. A balcony extending the full length of the budding commands an excellent view of the Waikato River and surrounding country The shed is 2oft by 50ft, and was built from funds provided by the regatta committee. A successful social was" held during the evening.
