BOWLING.
It seams to be quite the. nsual thing in the annual tournaments that Devonport and Auckland should have to each ofiber in tho final stages of the pennant: .match, and it was so this year. Lasi Nalairdsiy on the E-emuera green the two old rivals played off the iinal for the Auckfe'ZJd Association's ponnant ilag. and in tbe end the victory vested with Devouport by i-jght points to one. Devonport won the pennant in 1003, misled it by s> single point in ii>o4. and have now iresuined possession. In the present contsst, Auckland had to play Rocky Nooic before meeting Devonport. For more tfiiau half the game Rocky Nook had the advantage, but Bonskill's team went down badly to the tune of 10 points, and the other rink could not pull up this Auckland then had to play three heads with Devonport to decide the fins.'.!. Ra lie's team played Ledingbams Airckkmd rink, and scored two points on ■each of the threo heads. Harrison's (Desonport) against Handeoek scored one on the first and two on the. second head, then Auckland scored, bra. it was only oar on the laet head, Devacaport thus winning easily. The rule that the deciding heads should be three in number met with such general adverse criticism that I think it will be altered. Three heads hardly give the teams a chance to show their real form, and seven would be a better number.
