J. Wells, a painter, when engaged painting the school buildings, received a severe scalp wound owing to a plank falling on his head. He was taken to the doctor's with his head covered with blood and paint. A largely attended meeting of Whatawhata settlers last night decided to { endeavour to get the Waipa County Council to open up a new road through McCarthy's and Jolly's properties at ■Frankton, connecting the Whatawhataroad, in order to lessen the distance to the Hamilton saleyards, also to avoid the present dangerous crossing at Frankton railway station.
