LONDON, February 9. The "•Temps'' say 3 that the battle on the Hun River was initiated by General Kuropatkin to divert the attention of his army from the events in "St. Petersburg on Sunday. January 22. He did not support Genera! Gripenberg when he found the diversion had continued long enough and had been costly enough; hence that officer's complaint that he was not sapported. Other advices say that General Gripenberg engaged too hotly and too extensively, and that General Kuropatkin could not spare trCops to support him. I
