ACCIDENT AT WAIHL

The knuckles of his kind } are burned through nearl— to the bone, : and there is danger of Mr Wright loaI ing his fingers. Yesterday evening a • young man named J. Evana, employed : at the Waihi Company's battery, got J his foot badly burned by sulphuric acid. j The wooden cover of a receptacle containing add broke trough, and bis foot slipped into the acid.
With reference to the statement published as to the likelihood of Sir William Kus3ell being appointed to the Upper House, and Mr A. L. D. Fraser contesting the Hawke's Bay seat at the general election (says the Taranaki I "'Herald"), we have Mr Fraser*s authorl ity for stating that there is absolutely 1 no foundation for the rumours- Even 1 should Sir Wflliam Russell retire from - the Hawfce's Bay seat, he (Mr Fraser) J, would not contest it, but would stand for Kapler against all-comers.
