PROPDOSED CHRISTCHURCH EXHIBITION.
(By Telegraph. —Own Correspondent.) CELRISTCHIjaCH, this day. At a meeting of the Exhibition Committee last night Mr Meyer moved, and it was carried —"That the Government be requested to draft a prospectus, to bo issued throughout the colony and elsewhere, setting forth the objects and scope of the exhibition as to exhibits, awards, etc., and generally to give such information as will be made to intending exhibitors." He said the exhibition was to be a Government venture, and it was the duty of the Government to take up the work of advertising it throughout the world. The Mayor also moved, and iC was carried —'That the Government be requested to make the early appointment of one or more commissioners, -who shall visit the various centres throughout the colony for the purpose of establishing local" committees and generally advertising and promoting the interests of the exhibition; further, that the Government be requested to appoint such officers as they consider necessary to! work in conjunction with the general i other committees." I
