LATE RACING.
C.J.C. SUMMER MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Summer Meeting of the C.J.C. was only an off meeting. The attendance yesterday was very poor, and there was hardly any speculation, there being only local horses engaged. The feature of the day's racing was the success attending Sir Geo. Clifford , !} stable, the Baronet landing four winners out of five starts, Cannle Chiel for once was in a galloping mood, and eaaUy annexed the big handicap; but Hewitt who was riding him. was called before the stewards and questioned concerning what looked like a deliberate cross at the start of the race As a result of the inquiry he was ordered to stand down for the renlainn/nl^^"' 118 and as a consequence m *? e monnt on Munjeet in the Ljtteltou Plate, easily landing Mr Stead's champion first past the post.
