WHANGAREI NEWS.
(By Telejjraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A social, held lo welcome Mr R. Thompson, ex-member for Marsden, on his return after a nine-months' trip Home, was attended by over two hundred personal friends, representing Whangarei and country districts. The Mayor presided. Coal traffic is exceptionally brisk; and the new railway siding is being erected for the Northern Coal Company at the Waro timber booms. The railway wharf is full of logs, and special trains are required to cope with the traffic
