GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENTS.
♦ (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) \\*ELLIXGTOX. this day. Mr H. P. Hornibroqke. of Coromandcl, has been appointed a raember of the Board of Examiners under the Mining Act, vice Capt. Hod'jiP deceased. Mr H. J. DLxcTi. formerly DeputyRegistrar of the Supreme Court at Invercargiil, at present acting as second clerk in the Magistrate's Court. Wellington, has ebeen appointed to fill the vacancy of Deputy-Registrar ax the Supreme Court. Auckland. - Mr R. TV. Dyer, cue of the recently appointed Stipendiary Magistrates now doing duty in North Canterbury, haa been appointed to take charge of the Kaipara-Whangarei district, also to sissht in Auckland. This arrangement ■will proba-bly mean that Mr Achosoß, the latest recruit to th? magisterial beneb, will be stationed in HckUika. Pay being transferred to North Canterbury. Cabinet has decided to station a representative at Calcutta for the purpose of supervising tho exportation of bonedust for sterili.-ing purpose-? in Now Zealand. It is practically c-ortain that Mr Laurie, sterilisinir export, will he offered the position. The decision of Cabinet would seem to imply that the Government has definitely abandoned the project of erecting sferilisine Avorke at Auckland or Bluff.
The Rev. Mr Mairs. of the Eltham Primitive Methodist Church, lus been transferred to the Walkato, and leaves for his new field ill the course of a few weeks. The Rev. Mr Benniag (Auckland) will succeed Mr Mairs in°Eltham.
