With regard to the extension of the Braddon clause (the chief financial clause in the Federal constitution), it Ls understood that the State ;iuthorities agreed that its operation should be extended for a considerable period. One reason of this "'stiff" attitude is said to be the mistrust felt by the States at the way in which Federal Parliament has acted in the past, for, In uieir opinion, it has not shown any great anxiety to conaider Suite sensibilities, but rather given the impression that it claims not only sovereign pouer for all Australia, but supreme power as well. Queensland is especially sore on this point, because it has not rectdved back: tnree-quarters of its Customs revenue.
