DEATH OF A CHILD.
SWALLOWED A SCREW. , ; ,"' (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) COROMANDEL, tills day. A sad fatality occurred here last nigM, when the one-year-old daughter of I Thomas Pratt died from the effects ot swallowing a half-inch screw. The e'aiW was playing with the screw and place" it in her mouth. The child was observed to be choking, aad when the cause was discovered efforts were made to <u s " lodge the screw from her throat, J»M without eifect, and the unfortunate littw girl succumbed. Much sympathy is expressed for the parents. An inquest on the body is to be held this afternoon.
