THE TRADE OF LYTTELTON.
(By Tetegrapn.—Own Correspondent.) CHKISTCHIEB.-CH, this day. The annual trade report for the port of Lyttelton, compiled from a comparative statement for tbe years 1903 and 1904 by the Collector of Customs, shows for 1904 the number and tonnage of foreign and colonial inward-boiiiid - vessels to have been 1584 vessels and I.6S(X»i4 tons, or a total increa-ae of 39 vessels and 22,13-4 tons as compared with thai of the year 1903. The vahie of imports at Lyttelton for the year 1904 was £2,325,035, ox an increase of £299.609 on 1903. The value of the exports was £2,157i>19, or a decrease of £512,594 upon those of 1903, the excess of imports over exports at tha port of Lytteiton for the year ending 31st December, 1904, being £167,116, whereas the valne of the exports of 1903 exceeded the value of imports by £545,087. The wharfage rettrrn shows an increase in tbe arnoont of wharfage dues of £984 3/8 collected last year as compared with the wharfage of the previons yeax, fchs net wharfage dues for 1904 being £23,----494 10/3. as against 6/7 for the year 1503.
