WHANGAREI HIGH SCHOOL.
The Cttai-ioan of the Whangaiei High School (Mr J. M. Klilen) distributed tne various prises won by the pupils during the rear on Monday afternoon. In adctressl_s the children the Chairman mentioned that one of the university scholarships had been carried off by Master A. L. Meade. Many of the pupils had succeeded in passing with credit the various public exaimiKitious, a fact that was very satisfactory to the governors and to the teaching start. The list of successful pupils was as follows:—Dux of the school, A. L. Mead, junior university scholarship. Form VI.: General proficiency, G. E. Alderton, senior Civil Service. Form V.: H. M. Beasley and H. H. Marshall, junior district scholarship certificates of proficiency: K. Storey and B. Killen. Civil Service. Form IV.: F. McKay, junior Civil Service. Form III.: English snbjects, W. Head: La-tln and French, P. Cubitt; mathematics, W. Mead; science. W. Mead: drawing, W. Mead. Form II.: English subjects, Ella Finlayson; mathematics, Slta Finlayson; Latin, Hazel Alderton; French. Marjorie Martin; bookkeeping, A. Williams; science, A. Williams; science, A. \vi_iiams; drawing, G. Bwen.
