We are informed by Mr Stevenson. F.R.A.S., that a colder spell of weather will exist until the 12th inst., and will probably be experienced over the whole of New Zealand, the mornings and evenings especially being a pleasant contrast to the hot weather recently felt. He also states that three large sunspots are now visible on the solar orb. Two of these are visible to the naked eye if, of course, properly protected from the solar heat. A former inmate of the Inebriates' Home at Waitati, an Auckland woman named Barbara Craigie. came before Mr Wardell, S.M., in the Police Court this afternoon, on a charge of drunkenness. She pleaded guilty, and stated that she had come up from the South a fortnighht ago. She expressed a desire to enter a local home, and the magistrate, recording a conviction, ordered her to come up for sentence if called upon, the defendant undertaking to stay for three months in the Salvation Army Home.
