WAIOTAHT Shares in the Waiotahi G-M- Co. were voted on the new basis of 6, each to-day or the first rime. At the morning call >uyers offered 13.6, with sellers at 14/6, mt by noon sales were made from 13/3 >o 14/6. This was. of course, ex div. of .0/ declared on the 6000 shares in the triginai company. Further shares could lave been placed at 14/6. The manager reported to-day that th_ limbering has now been sufficiently ad--anced to permit the sinking of a winze ielow the No. 4 leveL which was started in Thursday last, but so far we h_i-_ lot broken the mineral portion down. At present the gas is 3 iittie troubie4ome. but I hope to get over that dtrli-.-ulty by carrying air pumps down ia the rise. The taking out of the hanginswall portion for the height or the irive coming west is now well in hand, _nd a few days should see the work completed. MAY QUEEN EXTENDI-. . The second stope on No. _ r. >.' hu.3 been extended to the end of the giro ami. A rise in the centre of the blocs: is up sft. and a third scope cas been started east and west on the reef, which averages ISm in thickness. and sbtuva strong colours of gold. The western drive on No. 2 reef has been extended 6ft. and the lode is loin wide, and showed colours of gold at the la-: breaking down. By the extension -f the drive east on No. 2 reef 10ft or 15ft the manager anticipates meeting its junction with No. 3. This work has. been commenced. The crushing is shaping satisfactorily, there being now 0:1 hand 1590z 16d\vt of cold water amalgam. The clean up will take place about the end of this week. NEW PUNKALLA DREDGE. Cable advice was received riont SyiLtre,to the effect that the New Punkalla Company's dredge has started operations. All the shares in this company are held ia New Zealand. The dredge has recently been refitted and operations started at the foot of the Dromadery Mountains, New South Wales. WAIHI EXTENDED. The contractors are still making good headway with the sinking of the shaft—22ft 6in has oeen sunk during the past fortnight. The andesite country that is being penetrated is of a good class of rot-k containing mineral and quartz stringers. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Harbour View.—The crosscut is now in 551 ft. New Monowai.—Pipes have been laid Ito the face of the drive, and the drillj should be at work this week. The manI ager adds: "I have every reason to beI lieve that mineral ore will shortly be met i with. In the face there are indications !of the same ore now showing. The rich ! ore in this mine has always been in ecnjunction with strong minerals."
