THAMES ITEMS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. There was a large and representatives' gathering at the funeral of Mrs Prances McCormiek. Residents from all parts of the district attended. The Key. Dr. O'Callaghan officiated. Mr J. C. Datson, town clerk of aMnaia. is at present on a visit to Thames. Mr* Datson, accompanied by Mrs Datson, is making a "round" of the North Island. Mr R. J. Thompson, assistant at the Thames High School, was married grading the holidays. Oji_ returning to Tlianies lie received hearty congratulations from many friends. Nominations for the election of two members of the Thames Harbour Board were received to-day. Messrs Wm. Scott and Edward Murphy were declared duly elected. I understand that iv response to representations from the Joint (Committee representing the public schools, with regard toobtaining a grant for technical educallnu. the Department has consented, to a grant sufficient to erect and equip a technical school at the Thames.
