This was seconded by Mr E. A. Brown, and carried unanimously. At the mine a start has been made to sink the winze on the easier part of the reef, alongside the mineral band from which the picked stone has been obtained. The winze is down about six feet, but none of the ore has been broken down yet. In the drive good crushing dirt is being obtained. AUCKLAND GOLD MINING SYNDICATE. A meeting of members of the Auckland Gold Mining Syndicate was held to-day at the office of Mr H. Gilfillan. junior, at which it was resolved to form a company to work the property at Whangamata formerly held by the Mananu G.M. Company. The capital was fixed at £5000, in 100,000 shares at 1/ each, paid up to 3d. The first directors are: Hon. E. H. T. Gorrie, J. Smith, W. Burton, and J. J. Craig. On the property is a 10-head stamper battery and cyanide plant. NEW ECLIPSE. About 81b of picked stone from the New- Eclipse mine, Tararu, was on view to-day at the office of Mr H. Gilfillan. The quartz is of an excellent description, and shows gold freely, being estimated to be worth about an ounce to the pound. The stone is from the Vulcan reef, which at present is three fee* in width. Shares exchanged hands today at 2/. BUNKER'S HILL. Driving is still proceeding at the adit level. About 124 feet have been driven in first-class, well-mineralised sandstone. Another 140 ft should intersect the 4in and other leaders. HAURAKI FREEHOLD. The stopes on the North reef have produced quartz that is being saved for treatment The reef contains good mineral indications, but little gold haa been seen. In tue stopes on Anderson's leader the show of gold is not what it has been, as a change of country is being passed through. There are signs it -will soon be passed through. A drive is being put in hangingwall of the Hauraki North reef to intersect a leader successfully worked in the early days of Anderson's party.
