AQUATICS.
MAHL'RANGI REGATTA. The Mahurangi regatta was held on Saturday. The flagship Kapanui was well patronised by visitors, who came from Warkworth, Matakana, Kawau. and Wttlwera in special steamers. The results of the racing are as follows: — Open Handicap Yacht Race: Entries and handicaps:—Moana, scratch; Ilex, scratch; Ladye Wilma, 7m: Okere, 12ni; Glen Ora, 12m; Nyanza, 22m. All started. Nyanza sot the best of the start, Glen Ora second, and Moaiia, Ladye Wilma, Ilex, and Okore in that order. The course was from flagship, round Saddle Island, thence round markboat below Grant's Island, to flagship; twice round, about 14 miles. The finish was:—Moana. 2h 21m 20s : Ilex, 2h 35m 525; Ladye Wilma, 2h 36m ss; Okere, 2h 54m 255; Glen Ora. Sh Om 20s; Nyanza, 3h 34m- Moana, which sailed exceptionally well in the light breeze, won first prize, Ladye Wilma second, and Ilex third. Half-decked Yachts (settlers only): Course—From flagship round markboat off LusWngton's, thence round mark oft JaeUson's, thence round mark round Grant's Island, to flagship; twice round. Entries and handicaps: Belle, scratch; Patience, 3m; Bride, llm; Ariel, 13m. The finish was as follows:—Belle, lh 56m 40s: Patience. 2h 2m 30s; Bride, 2h 7m 20s. Bride won by 20s. Single Sculls: R. Morrison, 1; A. Dawson 2. Swimming Race: Taylor, 1; Reed, 2; Knaggs, 3. Greasy Boom: J. Morrison, 1; W. linages, 2. Boys' Race (under 14): Simmer Viall 1. Boys (under 16): Jackson. 1; Grant, ?.• Fonr-oared Race: Tate's crew, 1; Knaggs', 2; Dawson's, 3. Pair-oar Race (open): Morrison Brothers, 1; Dawson Brothers, 2. Yatchs' Dinghy Race: Rita Roa l! W. Smith, 2. MOTOR LAUNCH RACE. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron's motor launch race, which was held on Saturday afternoon last, was won by the Matareka, Euoho being second, and Union third. The race started puuctually at three o'clock. Petrel was lm 10s late in starting, and crossed the line close to Matareka. The other boats were sent away on time. Ngapuhi, the limit boat, did not start. Union had the better of the start, and rounded the America half a minute ahead of Slim Jim. Passing the btanley Bay Wharf Union was a minute ahead, and when the boats were off Calliope Dock, the Slim Jim stopped an accident having happened to her machinery, and retired from the race. Union got among the other boats after rounding the squadron mark off the Bastion. She secured third place a little below the P.ailway Wharf, but it was evident that the Intervening space was too ehort to allow il er overtaking the two leading boats; yar *1 S and she mus t ha ve won.'
