OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was held this afternoon, when the following tenders w<jre accepted: Golden Cross-road, 41| chains, A. J. Cox, £200; bridle track. Golden Cross-road, 22 chains, A. J. Cox, £34 17/; metalling streeca at Waikino, E. Bain, £39; laying water service to racecourse, C. R. Taylor, £42 3/. For carrying out a closed pan nightsoil service at Karangabake, the tender of John Coehrane was accepted. It was decided to complete the metalling , of the Nether-ton-road, and to have the footpath asphalfced on one side of the main road from the railway station to the post office. Mr Barry was granted six months' leave of absence on account of his projeetpd trip to England. The Council resolved to spend the Government grant of £ 100 on the Waitoa-road. An application from W. Xewsham for aid to prospecting was received, and it was decided to grant assistance on the usual conditions. The Council axrreed to make grants of £10 to the Paeroa, Karangahake, and Waitekauri fire brigades.
