CONSTERNATION AT GREAT BARRIER.

The 5.6. Argyle, which arrived here at 8.30 this morning, brings information from PortFitzroy, Great Barrier, that the volcanic explosion was distinctly heard, and volumes of smoke passed over the island from the southward. Great consternation was occasioned by the phenomena, which was confidently believed to be causod by a Russian bombardment of Auckland.
