A Row Brewing. It is rumoured Government will use its whole strength to oppose Sir George Grey's motion this afternoon, for leave to introduce a bill to prevent the unlawful disposal of confiscatedlands. A fierce debate ia expected. I will wire again later. The Opposition is mustering rapidly for the encounter. In reply to a question by Mr O'Rorke, about vesting the public reserves of Onehunga in a Town Board, Sir Donald McLean said he would confer with Mr O'Rorke on the subject. * The Government Decline. In reply to Mr Swanaon the Government again declined to say when the representation Bill would be introduced. He said he would do so when other important measures before the House were passed. _ Mr Swanson asked if they meant the Abolition and Local Government Bills? If so there would be no Representation Bill, as the Abolition Bill would not pass. The Government explained that they did not mean to defer the bill so long. The Militia Scandal.
In reply to Mr Swanson Sir Donald McLean paid papers about the Waikato railway Militia enquiiy, would be laid on the table on Tuesday.
Kaipara Railway. In reply to Mr Sheehar, the Government declined to say when they would call for tenders for the Kaipara railway. Mr Sheehan and Mr Yon der Heyde intend pressing the matter further. They put him up. Mr. Mervyn was evidently put up by the Government to atk a question about the disposal of revenue under the Abolition Act, but the House refused. Collection of Rates. In reply to Mr Sheehan, the Colonial Treasurer said tbe bill to improve the collection of rates against real estate was in preparation, and he would consult with Mr Sheehan about it. The Great Debate. The debate on Sir Geoige Grey's Bill about confiscated lands has justjeommenced. T he Government are opposing leave to introduce the Bill and a warm debate will result.
