DUNEDIN.
(Per Press Telegram Agency.) Friday. 5 O'Connell Centenary. The O'Connell centenary dinner last evening was a great success. Mr Macassay proposed the memory of O'Connell in an eloquent speech, in which he reviewed the great liberator's life and career from his infancy. He spoke exactly one hour and twenty minutes.
Judge Chapman responded to the toast of " Our Guests," and stated that he bad had personal acquaintance of O'Connell in 1535 He spoke of his many good qualities, and declared that no more faithful devotee to Ireland had ever breathed.
