Sir George TEYBowen has sent by the mail a letter to his private scretary, from which the following is an extract:—"ln consefiuence of the, long and severe illness of my ai?^y» »nd of other circumstances which i»ve impeded the transaction of the urgent *jivate business which necessitated; riiy ■ visit . England j looking also to ray continuous y jrvice. of sixteen years in Australia and
New Zoaland, the Queen, through the Secretary ,o£ State, has extended my leave of absence, until the close of this year, so that I shall be back in Melbourne at the end of December, instead of September. .1 am doing all I can in England, and with much success, to extend the general knowledge of Victoria, its progress, resources, &c."
