INSURRECTION IN TURKEY.
London, July 27.
Iho Turkish troops attacked the insurgents at Herse Egoinea, and had two days' sanguinary flighting, which proved indecisive. THE WAR IN SPAIN. The Alphonists troops are besieging TJrgal ; operations elsewhere have been suspended. THE WEATHER. The weather is now fine, and crops may be saved. THE MERCHANT SHIPPING BILL. London, July 28. The Government will introduce to-day a temporary but thorough-going measure which is intended to replace the Merchant Shipping Bill, withdrawn a few days ago by Mr Disraeli, and against the withdrawal of which Mr Plimsoll protested. It is considered that this is a concession brought about by the pressure of public opinion. FAILURE IN" AMERICA. Messrs Duncan Sherman and Co., of America have failed. Their liabilities are £1,000,000.
