The Fire at the Theatre
The Company ousted from the Princess Theatre by the fire play to-night in " Leah" at the Queen's Theatre. Mr Leech loses all his music, and Mr West his piano, valued at 601. The Fire Brigade worked splendidly ; had they not done so the conflagration would have been terrific. Keels and Mcßeths store, containing 9,000? worth of goods, was saved by the most strenuous exertions. Mr Darrell has lost a lot of manuscript plays. Mr Sibhald intends rebuilding the theatre immediately. Strange to say, only four hours before the theatre was destroyed, the Fire Brigade, at a meeting, had decided to disband, owing to the indifferent support accorded them by the City Council. This day. Another Large Fire-—Coombes' Tannery DestroyedAnother large fire occurred this morning at Coombes' tannery, which was entirely destroyed. The insurance is £1500 on stock and building : £1000 in the National and £500 in the Norwich. Mr Coombes estimates his loss at £10 000. There was a very heavy j stock, and nothing was saved. It is supposed the fire originated in some buildings where grease, tallow, and shoddy are kept, by spontaneous combustion.
