Body Found.

The body of a man was found floating in the Manukau harbour to-day. It has not yet been indentified.

Pumping Associatioa. The Pumping Association shaft is down 555 feet in splendid country, but no quartz.

The Cure.

The Cure had a rich show in No. 1 stope in the drive towards the Caledonion boundary to-day. Nos. 4 and 5 reefs appear to have juDctioned.

The Waiotahi Company retorted lastnight, and had 106 ozs>. 10 dwts. from 150 tons. The Crown Princess had 20 lbs. specimens from No. 2 reef.

Sharemarket. Rales : Caledonian, 77s 6d ; City of York, 9s 6d ; Tairua, 573 6d ; Gem, 7s 6d ; A jax, 3s to 3s 6d. fiuyers : Caledonian, 755; Gem, 7s ; Eldorado, 3s 6d.

The Abolition Meeting. The meeting held lastnight to consider the abolition proposals introduced by the General Government was largely attended. His Worship the Mayor occupied the chair and read the following telegram from his Honor the Superintendent:—"Pray pause before adopting a sudden conclusion. Measures will be proposed in every way more liberal and advantageous than those now before you. It would be well to look at the proposals of both sides before deciding. Will you please read this to the meeting ?"

Mr. Rowe thought they should take tbe advantages the Government offered them, and if George Grey could shew anything better afterwaids let them take that also. He moved the first resolution, "That this meeting cordially approves of the principles contained in the abolition and local government measures now before the House, and would urge upon the Government tbe necessity of pressing the bills through the Assembly as early as possible."

Mr Bagnall seconded the motion which was cariied,

Mr Carpenter moved, " That a local committee be appointed to watch the progress of the Abolition Measures through the Assembly such committee to consist of the Borough Council, the highway boards and members of the Provincial Council."

Mr Gibbons seconded the motion, which was unanimously adopted. The third resolution determined that the previous motions be telegraphed to Wellington.
