Accident on the Wharf.
Mr James Baluntyste. receiver on the Queen-street wharf, met with a nasty accident this morning which will lame him for some time. He was attending to his duties this morning on the main outer T., when seeing a horse trying to start with a heavily loaded dray, he approached and endeavoured to assist the animal by turning one of the wheels. By ill-luck he managed to place one of his feet in front of the wheel, which, when it began to rotate, passed over the unfortunate man's toes crushing them in the boot, though not so completely, as if they had not been encased in the leather. The sufferer's partner, Mr Cammell, seeing the accident and the pain which it caused, supported Mr Ballantyne till a cab was procured, into which he was put and conveyed to his home, where he was shortly in receipt of medical attention. We understand that the lameness, which is sure to follow, is not likely to be permanent.
