CITY COUNCIL.—This Day.
At the City Council meeting held this afternoon the Mayor occupied the chair and there were present Councillors Isaacs, Buchanan, Brett, Daldy.
A letter from Mr. Yon der Heyde was read asking leave of absence for 3 months Ife was moved by Cr. Daldy and seconded by Cr. Buchanan and agreed that leave be granted. The Mayor stated that Mr. Phillips had returned much restored in health. He would be at his duties to-morrow.
A leter from Mr iSroham stated that the public pound in Queen and Victoria-street had been removed by the Provincial Government.
The matter was referred to the City Surveyor to select a site for a frosh pound. A letter from the Gas Cempany was read in reference to the pipes in the cesspits in Wakefi eld-street.
The Clerk was instructed to write and say that the company were at liberty to remove the pipes at their own expense. (Loft Sitting.)
