The cutter Leo has cleared in ballast for Russell, and the Morcing Light for Port Charles. The brig Derwent is loading with timber at Mongonui. She took in cargo and sailed from Karotooga for Auckland on the 17th. On Thursday experienced a heavy NN E gale. On Friday, the 30th, sighted the Great Barrier, and made the harbour in the evening. During the round the round the Belle Erandon spoke the ketcn Qearl on the outward run and again at Penhryn Island, schooner Papua and cutter Kate Young (late Petrel) at Rarotonga, and ' rctitia bound from Aitutake to Earotonga on Ihe 19th inst. Passengers : Mr Ranken, Captain Koss. The screw barqusntine Kmu, chirtared by Mr W. D. Brewer, airr;ved from Fiji early thii morning with a cargo of maizi, copra, and other Fiji produce. Captain Connel reports having left Levuka on Friday, 23rd inst, at 8 pm, under steam. Had strong head winds at starting.^ On Monday, the wind changed to the eastward. Encountered heavy N E gale and high sea on Thursday night. Shortened sail, and ran btfo-e it, shinning some heavy s?"s Got ut> stea.mon Friday, and made the Poor Knights that day.
