DUNEDIN.
(From our own Correspondent.) This day.
The Colonial Bank.
At the second half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Bank, a highly satisfactory statement was made by the Chairman. The directors' report stated that the directors congratulated the shareholders upon the support and confidence of the public, as evidenced by the large increase in deposits and in business generally. The profit and loss account showed a balance of £4,723 18s after paying all expenses and providing for bad anddoubtful debts, and for accrued interest to date on fixed deposits. This was carried forward to next half year. Mr Strode was appointed director, vide Mr A. W. Moiris, who has gone home to open a branch bank in London. A very cordial vote of thanks was accorded to the manager, Mr Beal.
Polly Leake. Polly Leake, a very old favorite throughout the colony, is a passenger by the Tararua.
