LATE TELEORAIVi
The Seduction of SEaasardThe proposal for cooking the reports of Hansard has created qnite a storm. Mr Fitzheiberb made a slashing speech on the tyranny and unfairness of making selections. Pf Mr Wakefield illustrated the value of Hansard in hia own ca3e. His speech in the address filled seven colurnn3 of Hansard, and only four lines of the Times ; two linea in another paper, and probably uuuoticed wholly in the others. This argument wa3 conclusive. Mr Steward, who moved it, withdrew the motion for printing the report. Auckland and Waikftto S&ail^ayMr JBuckland gave notice to ask when the Mercer and Newcastle liailway will be finished. PetitionsMr Kelly, Chairman of Petitions Committee, brought up reports on the petitions notified .in my last telegram. Defeat© on the Absence of Sir Julius Vogel. Major Atkinson moved for leave of absence for Sir Julius Vogel for the rest of the session. Mr Sheehan protested that he should be more ex plicit. Sir Julius Vogel was no ordinary member, and the House should receive aa explanation of the legality of the action of the Government in the matter. Mr Sheehan is specking very vigorously, and there is evidently a warm debate pending.
